First Model on our 3D Resin Printer

This printer uses slicing software to convert 3D files (like ‘.stl’) into instructions the printer can read.

  • Printer Software: Chitubox is installed on our computer. The Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra is the target printer.
  • Settings: Input the exposure times recommended on the bottle of the specific resin you bought. Generally, your normal layer exposure will be around 2.5 to 3.5 seconds, and bottom layers around 35 seconds.
  • Orientation & Supports: Do not print items flat against the build plate. Rotate them at a
30 to 45 degree angle and add support structures in the software to prevent warping or tearing.
  • Transfer File: Slice your model and send it to the printer via Wi-Fi, or load it onto a USB drive and plug it into the side of the machine.

Pouring Resin & Printing

Ensure the vat is clean and the screws locking it into place are securely tightened.

  • Mix the Resin: Gently shake your resin bottle for 30 seconds. Pour it directly into the vat until it hits a reasonable level (but avoid overfilling past the max line).
  • Start the Print: Attach the UV cover, navigate to the printer’s touchscreen, select your file, and press “Print”. The smart mechanical sensor will check for obstructions before beginning.

Post-Processing

Once the printer finishes, you will be left with hardened, sticky models.

  • Drip and Remove: Let the build plate drip back into the vat for a few minutes. Use the provided plastic scraper to carefully pry the print off the build plate.
  • Wash: Submerge the print in a wash station filled with Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) or a specialized resin cleaner for 2 to 5 minutes to remove excess uncured resin.
  • Cure: Remove supports using snips, then place the completely dry print into our UV Curing Station ( Elegoo Mercury) for 3 to 5 minutes to fully harden the plastic
